Before coffins left the workshop
Ankaa was to climb inside.
Fold herself and check the knots
crack her bones along woodwork.
She'd hammer on lids for half a minute
as they locked her in the basement.
They listened over cups of tea
pouring cow milk. Checked
the thickness of the wood
for buried alive screams.
